국제교류협력 강화와 해외투자 유치를 위해 북미지역을 방문 중인 김동연 경기도지사가 최근 인공지능(AI) 산업 분야에서 가장 두각을 나타내고 있는 미국의 엔비디아(NVIDIA)와 구글 본사를 찾아 경기도와 협력 방안에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is visiting North America to strengthen international exchange and cooperation to attract foreign investments -- recently visited the headquarters of NVIDIA and Google in the U.S., which they are at the forefront in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, to discuss cooperation opportunities with Gyeonggi Province.

이날 만남에는 인공지능 관련 도내 기업인 NHN CLOUD, ㈜새론솔루션, ㈜에이아이포블록체인, ㈜크래플, 에이블제이 주식회사 등 5개 사가 함께했다.
Five local AI corporations have also participated at the meeting: NHN CLOUD, Saeron Solution, AI4Blockchain, Creple, and ABLE.J.

김동연 지사는 먼저 현지 시각 7일 오후 산타클라라에 위치한 엔비디아 (NVIDIA) 본사를 찾아 샨커 트리베디(Shanker Trivedi) 수석 부사장(Senior Vice President of Enterprise Business)을 만났다.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon first visited the NVIDIA headquarters in Santa Clara on the afternoon of the 7th (local time) and met with the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Business, Shanker Trivedi.

김 지사는 이날 면담에서 경기도가 추진 중인 AI데이터센터 구축에 엔비디아의 AI반도체와 기술이 필요하다며 지원을 요청했다.
During the meeting, Governor Kim requested support stating NVIDIA's AI semiconductors and technology are needed to build an AI data center that Gyeonggi Province is pursuing.

김동연 지사는 “시흥 서울대병원이 AI 메디컬데이터센터를 구상하고 있다. 넓은 부지를 갖고 있고 바이오기업들이 입주할 예정”이라며 “경기북부지역에도 AI데이터센터를 추진할 계획으로 문화나 기후 같은 특정 분야에 특화된 데이터센터를 만들고 싶다”고 협조를 요청했다.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, “Siheung Seoul National University Hospital is planning an AI medical data center. We have a large available site and bio companies are planning to move in,” he continued, “We plan to build an AI data center in the northern Gyeonggi region, and we want to create a data center focused in specific fields like culture or climate.”

그러면서 “엔비디아와 경기도의 협력을 더욱더 강화하고 구체적인 협력 분야를 찾을 수 있도록 실무그룹을 구성해서 연락을 유지했으면 한다”고 제안했다.
He suggested, “I would like to continue discussions by forming a working group to further strengthen cooperation between NVIDIA and Gyeonggi Province and find specific areas of cooperation.”

샨커 트리베디 수석 부사장은 이에 대해 “말씀하신 두 개의 데이터센터 모두 엔비디아가 필요한 솔루션을 제공해 드릴 수 있다. 실무 그룹에 참여해 더 자세한 논의를 하겠다”고 답했다.
Senior Vice President Shanker Trivedi said, “For both of the data centers you mentioned, NVIDIA can provide the necessary solutions. I will participate in the working group for more detailed discussion.”

경기도는 모든 산업에 인공지능(AI)이 도입될 것으로 보고 이를 뒷받침하기 위한 데이터센터를 민간투자를 유치해 구축하는 방안을 검토 중이다.
Gyeonggi Province believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will be introduced to all industries and is considering ways to attract private investments to build a data center to support it.

엔비디아에 이어 김 지사는 구글 본사를 찾아 엠케이 팔모어(MK Palmore) 구글 클라우드 정보보호 디렉터, 윤진성 선임 연구원, 김선식 구글클라우드 부문장 등과 경기도 AI 스타트업과 인재 육성 협력 방안 등을 주제로 대화를 나눴다.
After visiting Nvidia, Governor Kim visited Google headquarters and had conversations with Google Cloud Information Security Director MK Palmore, Senior Researcher Yoon Jin-seong, and Google Cloud Division Manager Kim Seon-sik on ways to cooperate with Gyeonggi-do AI startups and talent development.

이수재 경기도 AI빅데이터산업과장은 “경기도가 구글을 만난 이유는 구글과 협력해 경기도 스타트업에 인재육성과 새로운 기회를 제공하기 위해서다”라며 “경기도 스타트업이 구글과 함께 세계로 진출할 수 있는 방안을 검토해 달라”고 요청했다.
Lee Soo-jae, head of the Gyeonggi-do AI Big Data Industry Department said, “The reason Gyeonggi-do met with Google is to foster talent and provide new opportunities to Gyeonggi-do startups.” He requested, “…to find a way for Gyeonggi-do startups to advance into the world with Google.”

한편, 김동연 지사는 앞서 이날 오전 미국 동부에 위치한 세계적 기술기업과 화상 미팅을 갖고 경기도 투자를 독려했다.
Meanwhile, Governor Kim Dong-yeon held a video meeting with a world-class technology company located in the eastern United States this morning and encouraged investments in the Gyeonggi Province.
